Love the idea of assessment for learning! It is about growth and progress. Can’t wait to hear more about how to do this without a paper/pencil test.

I’m excited to learn more about “growth days.” I would also love to know more about students creating a portfolio or “proof” of their learning or progression.

My goal is for my students to do the math work, the problem solving and the talking. I want to be a guide for them and for them to feel like capable problem solvers when they head off to middle school.

Good morning! My name is Bridget and I live in the Boston Area. I am a 6th grade math teacher at a charter in Dorchester, MA. I’ve been teaching at the same school for 20 years, and I truly love my community. My background is in special education, but math is what I have been teaching for many, many years.

I recently read “Building Thinking Classrooms,” and my teaching has done a 180. I was definitely teaching traditionally and my students were doing the “sit and get.” After reading the book, I switched EVERYTHING (it only took me 20 years), as I reflected and noted that my students were only mimicking, not thinking.

I’ve been listening to your podcasts and have learned a lot. That is why I am here- to learn more. Thank you for this space!
