Over the pasts several years I have completely transformed my math classroom, instruction, and understanding. I have transformed my classroom by adding 5 large tables for student collaboration. I have added 7 new VNP surfaces and have heavily invested in concrete manipulatives. I also made the transition into a math workshop/station model. I have experimented with several different styles, routines, group sizes, etc. to see what worked best. I had the great opportunity to build a large number of rich resources (paper/online), tasks, connections, best practices, and other math tools.

I am at the point where I feel my first main goal is to get better organized, structured and purposeful/intentional with my teaching practices, instruction, and decision making heading into the next school year.

I at times feel I have “too” much “stuff” and ideas that I am always spinning my wheels, or always trying new things and I think my structure/organization and purpose gets lost in the clutter sometimes. There are so many amazing things, ideas, and resources out there of amazing teachers that I want to be all of them at once or in one day, and it’s just not possible, unfortunately 🙂

Hey there Tristan. I’m looking forward to seeing your updates. I totally get the “so many great resources”. Have you listened to episode 5 from our podcast yet? It’s about this exact issue. https://makemathmoments.com/episode5/
