My goal is to be ready to implement Problem-based learning in Algebra 2 classes next year. I feel like teaching and promoting problem solving is an area that I am weak in as a teacher. I also am finding that my students are not very resilient and that many of them give up when things get slightly difficult. I also feel that PrBL will help me with the interest and relevancy factor so that the students really want to learn. I hope to update my progress at least every other week.

Hi Angela, if I could advise digging into the MMM podcasts, especially the first few episodes, John and Kyle get into a lot of the nuts and bolts of how they implement their PrBL classrooms.  Also, I just finished reading 5 Practices to Orchestrate Math Discussion, which is put out by the NCTM, it very thoroughly lays out how to start and facilitate those math discussions.  It’s been very helpful in helping me understand.

    Good luck on your mission!
