Most of my classes I am lucky enough to co-teach. I do have one 6th grade math class where I am on my own and I am struggling to get around to each of my random groups in a timely fashion. I’ve added some extensions, like, “Are you done? Write down what YOU think is the most important thing to remember about this task. OR Write a hint for a student who is struggling.”

But I’m not feeling the flow of my classes with the tasks and random groups I have created (yet).

At times, you may not be able to make it around to every single group. However, you can make note from the centre of the room and aim to meet with another group later in the lesson. Sometimes, certain tasks may not be appropriate at the boards if they don’t provide a significant enough productive struggle which will take time to work through. For example, if it is a procedural task, it might only take a couple minutes which doesn’t provide much opportunity for collaboration or visiting the boards.
