    Hello, my name is Vanessa. I live in Tasmania, Australia.

    I teacher year 7 and 10 this year, but this changes every year and can also be 8’s and 9’s (tends to be mainly 8’s). We are coming up to half way through our school year.

    I have been listening to the podcasts often, and have got so much out of them. I am really interested in improving my use of vertical writing surfaces and very keen to get my head around spiralling and what it will look like in class. I use low floor high ceiling tasks, but would like to get better at it. I had a realisation after listening to Peter Liljedal that I teach conceptually  but still spoon feed the students when I give them tasks and they look at me blankly, so I would like to move away from this.

    Looking forward to what the academy has to offer to support my growth as a maths teacher.
