New Member: Dawn from Las Vegas
Hello. My name is Dawn Schlink and I teach at Mike O’Callaghan MS i3 Learn Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. I switched grades a few weeks into this school year so this has been a year full of curves. I teach 2 classes of regular 6th grade math and 2 classes of pre-algebra to 6th graders. We employ a double block schedule for math so 96 minutes of math to every class every day. We utilize a blended learning approach so this switch to remote learning has not been completely foreign, but boy am I struggling much more than I thought I would. First week seemed fine but now I feel stressed and with less patience than normal. I taught students with autism, students with intellectual disabilities, kindergarten, and more so patience is something I usually have an abundance of. I am hoping to learn something that helps my students learn while lowering my stress level!
Thank you.
