    38 minutes? That’s ridiculous. What level are you teaching? Why is it only 38 minutes? Can you flip your classroom?

    I’m lol, although it’s not funny.

    I teach middle school.

    Flipping the classroom has not been an option. I received push- back from parents. I teach at a private school and wish to keep the peace. But…as we are exclusively subject to remote learning…maybe this will be an option for the future.

    I try to be as effective as possible (takes upfront planning):

    -hand out notes/handouts/activities in bulk (e.g. a booklet for the unit) or when students are entering the room.

    -have the agenda printed on the board, students are prompted to immediate move to the next piece/task(s) if necessary

    -try to keep my explanations and “lecturing” to less than 5 minutes (although this is seldomly done unless I’ve adequately adapted my follow-up activity)

    -use grouping websites/apps (e.g. to quickly make groups that are easily identifiable for you and students. (Again, students will be able to transition quickly if they know the expectations).

    -engaging tasks to keep behavioural management down (hopefully)
