Currently, I still ask students to open their textbooks and work through the problems in there as their “practice”. I would really like to work on creating a year of math that nurtures inquisitiveness and perseverance with problem solving. Ideally, I would like to take the resources I have and redo my whole year of math by using the ideas I have already seen, and will continue to see, from this Academy. I would like to have a math class that is busy with activity and math talking, not always pencils scribbling on the paper.

The first thing I would like to do is figure out how to teach division with decimals like Prince! I might not be able to put what I plan into practice fully this year (it is what we are working on in the next two weeks and we are closed due to COVID-19), but I would like to take this time to work on more thought-provoking problems that create anticipation and student participation.
