  • Inequality task?

Posted by Shawn Seeley on March 9, 2021 at 12:46 pm

We’re getting ready to begin some work with inequalities in 7th grade, and my team was looking for some inequality tasks. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi @shawn-seeley

Right now we don’t have any lessons that explicitly address inequalities (but it is on our radar!) but an approach I typically suggest is to start with a good problem based context for solving equations and use inequalities as an extension. So we aren’t teaching it in isolation, but more as a nudge further down the road.

I feel like the Shot Put unit would be a great place to start for this:

Thanks, Kyle, I’ll take a closer look today and run it by my grade-level team. I gave them all a preview of the academy during a Zoom meeting yesterday and included my district’s secondary math director. I think a few signed up for a 30 day trial!
