How do you encourage maths teachers to continually aim to improve their practice, rather than just doing what they have always done (e.g. chalk and talk, ‘at level’ teaching, closed questions, etc.)?

It is hard to change how teachers do things, especially if it what they’ve done forever. If you can show them, the changes will engage students more and encourage their participation, they should be more willing to listen. Perhaps offer to teach a class, give mini lessons, and such.
