  I have been listening to the MMM podcast this summer and have a few goals associated with topics in several of those episodes. First, I want to plan better using the 5 Practices. Second, I want to incorporate Peter Lillendahl’s use of VNPS, visually random groups, and teaching through rich tasks. By the end of the first nine weeks of school, which will be in mid-October, I want to have established a planning routine that incorporates the 5 Practices. I intend to create a planning document to use to scaffold the planning for me. I am focused on planning the units and lessons in  CRA learning progressions.  Also by the end of the first nine weeks of school, I want to have established the classroom routine of students getting into random groups each day and doing their work on vertical whiteboards. Finally, by the end of the year, I want to be proficient at using “talk moves” during math talks. 

  I know that is a lot for me to accomplish this year, but these are things that I keep coming back to ask foundational shifts I want to make to move my students along their learning pathway.
