    1. Engage students in math conversations and collaborative problem solving.

    2. Focus problems in real-world contexts that actually matter to students.

    3. Balancing the variety of students’ knowledge base- the students who have familiarity with the material (and can move quickly) with those students who are behind in foundational skills and aren’t really ready for this material yet.

    4. Make math fun!
