Getting my teaching team on board
At my school, we have teaching teams, and it’s hard to branch out with new ideas when the curriculum that we’ve created, (ie. notes, homework, and tests) are all about procedure and do not provide much opportunity for students to actually problem solve for themselves. We also have a lot of curriculum that is deemed “essential”, limiting the time I have in class to help students think deeply about a concept. Many times I am teaching three or more concepts in one period.
