I’m looking for fresh ways to engage my students in all tasks, not just the ones they think are “easy.”

We talk about and encourage others to have a growth mindset but then individual students don’t practice what they tell their classmates and don’t like to struggle even though we discuss that helps our brains grow. Ideas?

I am right here with you! I have opened up my “quiz” assessments to students doing outside practice and retaking the assessment once they understand it better. I would meet with them before or after school or during our “ANP” time, but many times they won’t come in to show growth. It is very hard to shift them to a growth mindset with grades and schedules hanging over your head.

I want to create a place where they are excited to keep thinking about questions and won’t let them go entirely. To say okay I don’t have it yet, but I will get it and I will prove it to you!
