Big Hurdle
We are in the beginning stages of our curriculum rewrite, with four of us (instructional coaches) that have engaged in a significant amount of learning these past four years. The work we’ve done so far has just started getting our team to notice that we need to do things differently. Given that our district performs so high, it’s challenging to help lead change – to help our teachers realize that we can do things better. We’ve stagnated – while our performance is high, we’ve remained at the same level for decades – with other districts closing the gap.
I’m hoping between the podcast (which I’ve already captured a TON of ideas for entry points) and this course, that I will continue to find ways to encourage and shift our thinking to: explore what are kids are capable of if we give them the opportunity. Ultimately – break tradition.
