Create a classroom of thinkers, risk-takers, collaborators. A classroom where students do more of the talking than the teacher.
Incorporate opening math routines/kick starters to replace old bellringer. Examples: number talks, WODB, numberless word problems, notice/wonder, would you rather, truths and lies, estimation 180, math fight.
Have students working in groups at vertical non-permanent surfaces.
Find a way to spiral content and teach standards that in past years we have not gotten to.
Homework – what will this look like now? Exit tasks . . . . 3 days/week?
Formative assessment – how will I collect this data? Observations, conversations, hinge questions, checklists?
