    A student told me she's "dumb" at math

    Why is this a win?

    I had a real breakthrough moment about her experiences with math, where she is told a specific way how to solve things. The “issue” is that she’s an out of the box thinker! I was able to identify specific successes she had shown in our warm up activities where she solved problems using her sense of logic in a unique and effective way. I’m getting a much better sense of the workings in my students’ brains.
