I teach Gr 8 Math(s) at an Independent School in Ontario. My school does not allow for the use of digital technology. This means no photos, audio recordings, etc.
I love the idea of the Math Portfolios. I have implemented the use of duotangs to keep “proof” in, along with unit skill lists that the children check off once they feel they have mastered a skill, but I only sign off on it once they have “proven” it to me. So far, they prove this through the completion of a quiz or test. It isn’t great, but I am working on it.
I really appreciated the mention of a non-digital portfolio on the podcast!
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions of how to best use a non-digital portfolio? Descriptions and/or photos would be greatly appreciated!
