Spatial reasoning is very important for measurement. For example, the pictures of the oreos from the side being able to visualize that all the oreos still have the same circumference would be key talking about that question.
One course I teach is 6th grade math. Students learn about the finding the area of parallelograms re-arranging them into rectangles. They also learn about the area of triangles by doubling them into parallelograms.
