    I feel you. It is frustrating to find out our students have weak number sense. It all boils down to a strong foundation of number sense. The problem usually lies in the way many elementary teachers teach maths. Many of them do not teach conceptually.

    I remember during one of our plannings, I mentioned about teaching these properties and the team members said that it can be taught in passing since it is isn’t really that important. My heart broke when I heard their comments. I explained the concept behind it.

    Teaching the commutative and associative properties in elementary is important. I think it is also about re-train elementary teachers how to teach Maths. As we all know that elementary teachers teach the major subjects.
