Hi all, I’m Liza from Los Angeles, CA. I’m a Resource Specialist Teacher currently teaching K-5th. I have been teaching for more than 20 years now. I’ve taught a wide spectrum of students based on abilities. I’ve taught intellectually gifted students, students in general education in both private and public schools, as well as students with mild to moderate disabilities. I have to say that my heart is in teaching students with special needs, particularly students with autism and learning disabilities. It is certainly more difficult but their successes, no matter how small, are just amazing.

I have been a fan of the podcast since August of last year. I found it because of my search for more information about Dr. Jo Boaler. Over the summer of 2019, I did some reflection on the traditional way that I’ve always taught math (rote memorization and algorithm). The more I did research, the more I realized how lacking my instruction is. This brought me to read Dr. Boaler’s book, listen to the podcast when she was your guest, and I guess the rest is history. I am here to learn more strategies to make learning more fun and more meaningful to my students.
