My big take away was the meaning of the words eleven and twelve. I will definitely take this knowledge back and use it with my students. It was so cool to see the history of the base ten system and they way it builds up to create our number system. The visual is something I found very helpful, it must ensure that I keep using these visuals with my students so they developing number sense.
One thing I wonder is why does the spelling of 4 change? On its own it is four but then becomes forty. Very hard to explain to students when you write, four hundred and forty-four!
