This is the million dollar question.
I’d start concrete prior to visual, but I understand as we get in older grades, often times we are trying to address conceptual gaps and visuals seem quicker.
Relational rods, fraction strips, and even arrays/area models are all great math tools for building that fractional understanding.
We intend to do a concrete course in the near future!
