Grade 6 Mathematics
I am in my thirty-third year of teaching. I have taught sixth graders math the past 12 years.
The students have Chromebooks and all but a few have internet access, so that has not been a major issue. But getting them online at the same time has been impossible. They are responsible for siblings and/or the home network won’t support more than one student and the parents working from home…so video and one-on-one has been the way I am staying connected to the kids. I do have an office hour where kids can come. It has been mostly social, and I think they need that time, too.
I am looking for ideas to keep the kids learning. The first two weeks we reviewed and got used to our new normal, but I have not exposed them to all the standards. We need to keep learning in a meaningful way.
