Hi! I’m from Cincinnati and teach in a private elementary school. I really appreciate this opportunity to grow through your professional development resources NOW–while there’s some unscheduled time due to the virus.

I’m a gifted instructional specialist who also teaches some “non-gifted” students. I teach enrichment math to gr. 1-2, teach cross-curricular enrichment to gr. 3-7, and teach some jr. high math groups not at the gifted level.

I love all things math. In the beginning weeks of Covid-19, it was fascinating (uggh) to use the virus as an example of exponential growth. Right from the beginning the curve was there just as it is every year with influenza. As time went on we quit looking at the curve b/c I didn’t want to scare children. For myself, though, looking at science and math helps me distance myself from fear. One sentence to balance that out is, “Behind every data point there is a person.” Math serves humanity, just as science does.

Looking forward to using your site! Thanks so much!
