I think the Gimme a Break task is a fantastic task to get kids curious about fractions and fractional language. I think it really does depend on your group and how they are progressing. Do they need some purposeful practice in-between?
I’d argue that purposeful practice is always important to have, but more specifically it sounds like you’re wondering “how much”.
I think it really depends on the group and how they are progressing. If you do day 1, can you let us know how things go (maybe even upload some student work for us to see) so we can all try to better understand and discuss where you might go next?
