I joined the acadamy back in May but am only now taking the time to get going on it. I’m going into my 14th year in the classroom and have taught almost everything from JK – 12. For the past 2.5 years, I’ve landed at Saint Andre Bessette Catholic Secondary School in London, ON and am loving my job as a math teacher. The courses I find myself getting assigned over and over again are Grade 10 Academic, Grade 9 and 10 Applied, and Grade 11 College. I’ve been told that my experience in elementary school is a benefit to students with learning struggles in math, so I’m always looking for new ways to engage them and help them to learn.
I have two boys, ages 7 and 9 and a terrific husband. I love my time with them, but always find it a struggle to be the best teacher, mom and wife that I can be! There are so many great things I could be doing in my class, but time never seems to be on my side! Remember Evie, from the 80’s show “Out of this World”? I wish I had the power to freeze time to get all my work done so I could enjoy more time with my family! I’m hoping that <span style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>joining Making Math Moments Academy will help with that!</span>
<span style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>I also struggle with learning all of these great, new things, and then feeling defeated… like I’m not as a great of a teacher as some may think I am. So, ya. About to embark on a new school year and hoping to challenge myself to try new things!</span>
