    Hi Everyone! I’m Heather Krieger from Williamsville, NY (near Buffalo/Niagara Falls) I’ve been teaching since the early 90’s (with time off to raise my three children!) Just celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary.

    I began as a 7-12 science teacher, followed by Gifted and Talented, and am currently an Instructional Technology Coach. I’m a lifelong learner and have been fortunate to experience education through multiple roles in my district.

    Instructional coaching has been a wonderful experience, but I’ve had a difficult time encouraging secondary math teachers to experiment with strategies for deeper student learning. I work in a high performing district, so the math instructors continue with traditional “chalk and talk” delivery using digital whitboards. Students score well on state exams, so they believe they are doing what’s best for kids. I disagree.

    I’m hoping to learn as much as I can about effective and engaging math instruction!
