    Hello All,

    I am Alex, a 4th-grade gen ed teacher at Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy in Ashford, Washington. I work in a remote, single-grade per classroom schoolhouse near the base of Mt. Rainier. I am finishing my fifth year as a teacher. For the first 28 years of my working life I worked as a mountain guide, traveling the world.

    The class I’m currently teaching came to me with a lot of math anxiety. I committed myself to build a joyful math experience for the kids because it kinda sickened me to know that kids didn’t want to come to school cuz they feared math. It’s been a great ride this year and I look forward to learning bunches more.
