Hello!  My name is Carolyn Bus and I live and teach in southwestern Ontario.  For the past five years I have been working with Gifted and Enrichment students in Grades 5-8 from across our board.  In September, I will be returning to a Gr. 4/5 classroom.  While I have thoroughly loved my time as an itinerant enrichment teacher, I am really excited to be taking my new skills back to a junior classroom which is where I’ve spent the bulk of my previous 10 years teaching.

My goal is to build a math program that uses a Learning through Problem-Solving approach, applied equitably  (with socio-cultural consciousness, high expectations for all, with a desire to make a difference, through a constructivist approach, in a culturally responsive way) to successfully meet the differentiated learning needs of all students and to engage learners in deeper critical and creative thinking.  My hope is that by engaging students in meaningful problem-solving and by consolidating learning through rich math conversations that all of my students will develop as more confident, resourceful, resilient and enthusiastic mathematicians.
