    My name is Kate Nielsen. I live in a small town called Tremonton, Utah. I work at an Expeditionary Learning Public Charter School (K-12). I teacher 6, 7, and 8th grade math. I started teaching when my children were all in school. I got tired of parents telling their children they couldn’t do math. Everyone can do math, you just have to find a way to teach them.

    I went to college at Brigham Young University 30 years ago. I received a BS and MS in Pure Math with a minor in Statistics. I helped to program F14/A6 Flight Simulators for a couple years, then raised a family of 2 boys and 2 girls. My husband works in the Space Industry.

    I joined the community because I am looking for new and different ways to reach my students. I liked what I was hearing/learning from the Workshop. I’m excited to get to know everyone and gain some wisdom and insights from all of you.
