    I learned that the techniques to spark curiosity are essential. While I tried to integrate 3-act math tasks into my classroom this past year, they often failed miserably. Why? Because I failed to spark my students’ curiosity. All of these techniques were used less and less due to student resistance. Don’t want to notice or wonder? Okay, we’ll skip that part … and there goes anticipation and withholding information as well. Some of my students made progress on estimation while most simply went through the motions. For me, my success [or failure] to transition to this type of teaching is the creation of a culture of curiosity and wonder.
