This really made me think about my math “moment”! When I was in the third grade I could not pass my timed multiplication table tests because I just didn’t get what multiplication was! It was just a memorization exercise and I HATED math at that point. It wasn’t until later in high school that I started loving it because I was understanding what I was doing! I like how you give credit to both parts though because the automaticity is what gives students flexibility to do problems in different ways.
