I teach students that have IEP’s in middle school. My take is that if they haven’t memorized them by now , then they certainly are not going to memorize them in middle school. I have been using the “Math in Bed” notice and wonder prompts to build counting principles and automaticity. The more my students are exposed to different ways of counting the more connections they make to to multiplication and concept based number sense.
