This lesson reminds me of a book I read “The problem with Math is English” It resonates because we tend to use “naked numbers” or numbers that have no specific representation. One of the examples from the book was 2 times 3 is really 2 sets of 3 each or 2(y-3) is 2 sets of (y-3) or (y-3) + (y-3).
This lesson brought that all back.
