I want my students to be able to create a table and scale in tandem; however, I want to start them with a double number line. After we work with these 2 visuals, I can then have them graph the relationship as a linear equation, but that is down the road. I think we need to spend some time working with number lines and tables first.
I will have some students who will very quickly be able to see the scale factor and make the table, so I will need to have some harder quantities for them to play with, but I also have students who are using additive thinking who will need to physically make groups of three.
