    In the past I have shied away from using number lines because I find students have difficulty understanding them. Perhaps if I used them more frequently, they would see them more as a tool and less as an “extra” that is something else to understand. Math reources often stick them in the fractions unit of the book (more than in other sections) and if that’s one of the only places they are exposed to them (in Grade 5), they don’t necessarily understand how to use them, let alone correctly place the fractions approrpriately. Here’s my resolve to use them more faithfully so students start to intuitively implement them as a tool!
