biggest take away:
“its thinking about what tasks are we giving students to help them understand what is happening in their life”
(math story questions can open a discussion around making sense of society/things around us i.e., working for money, how much earnings we use on necessities, how circumstances differ etc.)
More:
the key with maths is getting more children involved
teachers must be willing to do things differently to what they’re used to/how things were done for them
how do you see/describe your students, are you using asset-based language, or solely focused on what they do not have
