Spatial reasoning is important so that kids develop fluency in more areas than just number. It helps them develop their proportional reasoning skills as well.
I coach K-9 teachers primarily and helping them do vertical team planning for kids really shows the importance of building on these concepts at an early age and getting them used to think about it more fluently.
