I keep thinking about the Incredibles 2 movie – students who are successful at the “game of school” will not like any change. However, the little I did change last year helped students come in and say: “Mrs. Ballard, can I show you that I learned how to factor?” versus “Mrs. Ballard, can I turn in last week’s hw assignment for 2 points?” The focus is on the learning target, not the points.
