I can relate on the test retake experience. One of the biggest changes I made that seemed to help for me was ensuring that the student was highlighting some of the work / efforts they were making before doing any type of reassessment. And reassessing doesn’t have to be product. It could be conversation and/or observations.
I think most platforms are moving towards a standards based approach if you search for it. I’m not familiar with canvas though unfortunately 🙁
